Gianni Lazzari was born on May 12, 1985, in Milan, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Gianni showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Gianni's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Milan Conservatory of Music when he was six years old. He studied under some of the most respected piano teachers in Italy and quickly became known for his technical skill and musicality. As a teenager, Gianni began competing in international piano competitions and quickly made a name for himself in the classical music world. In 2001, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Vienna, Austria, and in 2003, he won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, Texas. These victories launched Gianni's career as a concert pianist, and he began performing regularly in major concert halls around the world. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic performances and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. In 2005, Gianni made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City, performing a program of works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. The concert was a critical and commercial success, and Gianni was hailed as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. Over the next few years, Gianni continued to perform in major concert halls around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. He also began recording albums, with his first release, a collection of Chopin's Nocturnes, receiving widespread critical acclaim. In 2010, Gianni was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians and provides financial support to help them further their careers. The award helped Gianni to continue to expand his repertoire and to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras. In 2015, Gianni released his most ambitious album to date, a recording of all 32 of Beethoven's piano sonatas. The album was a massive undertaking, requiring months of preparation and recording, but it was a critical and commercial success, cementing Gianni's reputation as one of the world's leading interpreters of Beethoven's music. In addition to his performing and recording career, Gianni is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York City and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Gianni continues to perform regularly and to push the boundaries of classical music. He is known for his innovative programming, which often combines classical works with contemporary pieces and improvisation. He is also a passionate advocate for music education and for bringing classical music to new audiences. In recognition of his contributions to the world of classical music, Gianni has received numerous awards and honors, including the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and the Medal of Honor from the President of the United States. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of his generation and a true ambassador for classical music.
