He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Bruns showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Bruns received his formal music education at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Klaus Hellwig. During his time at the conservatory, Bruns won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Steinway Prize for outstanding pianistic achievement. After completing his studies, Bruns embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist, performing extensively throughout Europe and Asia. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso performer, known for his technical brilliance and interpretive depth. One of the highlights of Bruns' career came in 2010, when he was invited to perform at the prestigious Salzburg Festival. His performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor was widely acclaimed, with critics praising his "impeccable technique" and "profound musicality."
