Thierry Caens is a renowned French classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music through his exceptional skills as a trumpeter. Born on December 22, 1959, in Paris, France, Caens grew up in a family of musicians, which played a significant role in shaping his musical career. Caens began his musical journey at a young age, learning to play the trumpet from his father, who was a trumpet player himself. He showed a natural talent for the instrument and quickly developed his skills, which led him to pursue a career in music. He attended the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he studied under the guidance of renowned trumpet players such as Maurice André and Pierre Thibaud. After completing his studies, Caens began his professional career as a trumpeter, performing with various orchestras and ensembles across Europe. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skills and was soon invited to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Caens' career was his performance at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where he played the trumpet solo in the Olympic Fanfare and Theme, composed by John Williams. The performance was widely acclaimed and helped to establish Caens as one of the leading trumpeters of his generation. Over the years, Caens has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 1983, he won the First Prize at the International Trumpet Competition in Toulon, France, and in 1985, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of the Haydn Trumpet Concerto. He has also been awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of his services to the arts. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Caens has also been an active member of various orchestras and ensembles. He has served as the principal trumpet player for the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, among others. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and composers of our time, including Pierre Boulez, Leonard Bernstein, and Luciano Berio. Caens' repertoire includes a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary, and he has recorded numerous albums throughout his career.
