Born on August 18, 1972, in Frankfurt, Germany, Trinks showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He later went on to study conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, where he graduated with honors. Trinks began his career as a conductor in 1998, when he was appointed as the assistant conductor of the Frankfurt Opera. He quickly gained recognition for his talent and was soon invited to conduct at other major opera houses in Germany, including the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 2003, Trinks made his debut at the Salzburg Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. He has since conducted at many other major festivals, including the Bayreuth Festival, the Glyndebourne Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival.
