He was the son of a prominent Florentine family, and his father was a well-known lawyer. From a young age, Formichi showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Formichi began his musical training at the age of six, studying the piano with his mother, who was a talented pianist. He later studied with several renowned teachers, including Giovanni Sgambati and Ferruccio Busoni. Formichi's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly gained a reputation as a prodigy. In 1905, at the age of 16, Formichi made his debut as a pianist, performing in Florence. The performance was a great success, and it marked the beginning of Formichi's career as a concert pianist. Over the next few years, Formichi performed extensively throughout Italy, earning critical acclaim for his virtuosity and musicality. In 1911, Formichi made his international debut, performing in Paris. The performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Formichi's international career.
