Matthew Lipman is a highly acclaimed classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violist. Born on August 22, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, Lipman grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Lipman was exposed to classical music and began playing the viola at the age of six. Lipman's talent was evident from the start, and he quickly became a standout performer. He studied with renowned violists such as Roland Vamos and Kim Kashkashian and attended the Music Institute of Chicago and the Juilliard School. Lipman also received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Roberto Diaz. Throughout his career, Lipman has received numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional talent. In 2011, he won the Primrose International Viola Competition, which is considered one of the most prestigious competitions for violists. He was also a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2015, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a successful career in classical music. Lipman has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many esteemed conductors, such as Riccardo Muti, Alan Gilbert, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. One of Lipman's most notable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2015. He performed the world premiere of a viola concerto by Julia Adolphe, which was commissioned by the orchestra specifically for Lipman.
