The Münchner Philharmoniker is a classical music ensemble based in Munich, Germany. The orchestra was founded in 1893 by Franz Kaim, a local conductor and music teacher. Initially, the ensemble was known as the Kaim Orchestra, but it was later renamed the Münchner Philharmoniker in 1895. Over the years, the Münchner Philharmoniker has become one of the most renowned orchestras in Germany and Europe. The ensemble has performed with some of the world's most famous conductors and soloists, including Leonard Bernstein, Sergiu Celibidache, and Martha Argerich. The Münchner Philharmoniker has had many notable members over the years, including the conductor Sergiu Celibidache, who served as the orchestra's principal conductor from 1979 to 1996.
