Role:Conductor PerformerNeil Ferris is a renowned conductor, chorus master, and singer who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born in 1974 in London, England, Ferris grew up in a musical family and started singing at a young age. He attended the Royal College of Music, where he studied singing and conducting, and later went on to complete a Master's degree in Choral Conducting at the University of London. Ferris began his career as a singer, performing with various choirs and ensembles in the UK and abroad. He was a member of the Monteverdi Choir, one of the world's leading vocal ensembles, for over a decade, and also sang with the BBC Singers, the Gabrieli Consort, and the Tallis Scholars, among others. As a soloist, he has performed in major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican Centre, and the Edinburgh International Festival. In addition to his work as a singer, Ferris has established himself as a highly respected conductor and chorus master. He has worked with some of the world's leading orchestras and choirs, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has also conducted numerous opera productions, including Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni, and Britten's The Turn of the Screw. One of Ferris's most significant achievements has been his work as the Chorus Director of the BBC Symphony Chorus. He was appointed to this role in 2006, and under his leadership, the chorus has become one of the UK's leading vocal ensembles. Ferris has conducted the chorus in numerous performances at the BBC Proms, including the Last Night of the Proms, and has also led them in recordings for BBC Radio 3 and other major labels.
