Artist Info
Role:ConductorFilippo Farinelli was born on May 12, 1985, in Milan, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Farinelli showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Farinelli's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and later studied at the Milan Conservatory. Farinelli's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition as a prodigy. In 2003, Farinelli won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. This was a major milestone in his career and helped to establish him as a rising star in the classical music world. He went on to win several other prestigious awards, including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009. Farinelli's performances were characterized by his technical virtuosity and his ability to convey deep emotion through his playing. He was known for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, among others. His performances were often described as electrifying, with audiences captivated by his skill and passion. One of Farinelli's most memorable performances was at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2012. He performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the London Symphony Orchestra, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. The performance was widely praised by critics, with many describing it as one of the greatest performances of the concerto in recent memory. Farinelli also had a successful recording career, with several critically acclaimed albums to his name. His recordings of Chopin's Nocturnes and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 were particularly well-received, earning him numerous awards and accolades. Despite his success, Farinelli remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice for hours every day, always striving to improve his technique and interpretation. He also remained committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience, often performing in schools and community centers to inspire young musicians. Tragically, Farinelli's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. He underwent several rounds of treatment, but ultimately succumbed to the disease on June 15, 2016, at the age of 31. Farinelli's death was a great loss to the classical music world, but his legacy lives on through his recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to see him perform. He will always be remembered as a brilliant pianist and a true artist, whose passion and dedication to his craft inspired countless others.More....
