Meret Lüthi is a Swiss classical violinist who has made a name for herself as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. Born in Bern, Switzerland in 1985, Lüthi began playing the violin at the age of four. She showed an early talent for the instrument and began studying with renowned violinist and pedagogue Igor Ozim at the age of 12. Lüthi continued her studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. She then went on to study with Ana Chumachenco at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts, where she earned a Master of Music in Performance. During her studies, Lüthi won several awards and competitions, including the Swiss Youth Music Competition and the Swiss National Youth Music Competition. After completing her studies, Lüthi began performing as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Asia. She has performed with orchestras such as the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with renowned musicians such as pianist Lars Vogt and cellist Sol Gabetta. One of Lüthi's most notable performances was her debut with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in 2010, where she performed Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5. The performance was praised for Lüthi's technical skill and musicality, and she was invited back to perform with the orchestra several times in the following years. In addition to her work as a soloist, Lüthi is also an active chamber musician. She is a founding member of the Meretrio, a piano trio that has performed throughout Europe and Asia. The trio has received critical acclaim for their performances of works by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich. Lüthi is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at several institutions, including the Zurich University of the Arts and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She is known for her patient and supportive teaching style, and many of her students have gone on to successful careers as musicians. Throughout her career, Lüthi has received several awards and honors. In 2012, she was awarded the Swiss Ambassador's Award for Cultural Achievement, which recognizes outstanding Swiss artists who have made significant contributions to the cultural landscape. She was also awarded the Kiefer Hablitzel Music Prize in 2013, which is one of the most prestigious awards for young Swiss musicians. In addition to her performing and teaching work, Lüthi is also committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience. She has participated in several outreach programs, including the "Rhapsody in School" program, which brings classical musicians into schools to perform and teach students about music.
