Birth:1985 in Hertford, EnglandMary Bevan is a British soprano who has established herself as one of the most versatile and exciting classical music artists of her generation. Born in 1984 in Sussex, England, Bevan grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree with first-class honors and a Master of Arts degree in performance. Bevan's career began to take off in the early 2010s, when she won several prestigious awards and competitions. In 2010, she was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, a competition for young British singers. The following year, she won the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist Award, which recognizes outstanding young musicians in the UK. In 2012, she was named a BBC New Generation Artist, a program that supports and promotes young classical musicians. Since then, Bevan has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras and opera companies. She has appeared at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Glyndebourne Festival, the English National Opera, and the Scottish Opera, among others. She has also performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Academy of Ancient Music, among others. Bevan's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works from the Baroque era to contemporary music. She is particularly known for her interpretations of Mozart, Handel, and Britten. Some of her most notable performances include her portrayal of Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Glyndebourne Festival, her performance as Galatea in Handel's "Acis and Galatea" at the English National Opera, and her role as Tytania in Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Royal Opera House. In addition to her work on the stage, Bevan is also a sought-after concert performer and recitalist. She has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also collaborated with some of the world's leading conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and Sir Mark Elder. Bevan's recordings have received critical acclaim and have won several awards. Her debut album, "Arias for Nancy Storace," was released in 2016 and features music by Mozart and his contemporaries. The album was named one of the best classical albums of the year by The Guardian and was nominated for a Gramophone Award. Her second album, "The Divine Muse," was released in 2018 and features music by Handel and his contemporaries. The album was also named one of the best classical albums of the year by The Guardian. Bevan's success as a classical music artist has been recognized with several awards and honors. In addition to the awards mentioned earlier, she has also been named a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and a Fellow of the Royal College of Music.
