Born on December 23, 1978, in Bucharest, Romania, Constantinescu showed an early interest in music and began singing in her local church choir at the age of six. Her parents, who were both music teachers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Constantinescu began her formal music education at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where she studied under the guidance of renowned vocal coach Maria Slatinaru-Nistor. She quickly distinguished herself as a gifted singer, winning several awards and competitions, including the Grand Prize at the International Music Competition in Vienna in 2001. In 2002, Constantinescu made her professional debut at the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest, where she performed the role of Rosina in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville." Her performance was met with critical acclaim, and she soon became a regular performer at the opera house, appearing in productions of "Carmen," "Don Giovanni," and "La Traviata," among others. Constantinescu's international career began to take off in 2005, when she was invited to perform at the Salzburg Festival in Austria. She made her debut at the festival in a production of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," in which she played the role of Cherubino. Her performance was widely praised, and she was soon in demand at other major opera houses and festivals around the world. In 2007, Constantinescu made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she performed the role of Rosina in "The Barber of Seville." Her performance was a huge success, and she was invited back to the Met for several more productions, including "Carmen" and "Don Giovanni."
