Born on May 18, 1963, in Genoa, Italy, Armiliato grew up in a family of musicians. His father, tenor Salvatore Armiliato, was a well-known opera singer, and his mother, mezzo-soprano Lucia Danieli, was also a singer. From a young age, Armiliato was exposed to the world of music and began to develop a passion for it. Armiliato began his musical education at the Conservatory of Music in Genoa, where he studied piano and composition. He later went on to study conducting at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, under the guidance of Franco Ferrara. Ferrara was a renowned conductor who had worked with some of the greatest orchestras in the world, including the New York Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. After completing his studies, Armiliato began his career as a conductor, working with various orchestras and opera companies in Italy. He quickly gained a reputation for his talent and was soon invited to conduct in other countries, including the United States, Germany, and Japan. One of Armiliato's most significant achievements came in 1996 when he was appointed the principal conductor of the Teatro Regio di Parma, one of Italy's most prestigious opera houses. During his tenure, Armiliato conducted numerous productions, including Verdi's "La Traviata" and Puccini's "La Bohème." He also worked with some of the world's most renowned singers, including Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and José Carreras. In 2001, Armiliato made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, conducting a production of Verdi's "Il Trovatore." The performance was a huge success, and Armiliato was invited back to conduct numerous other productions at the Met, including Puccini's "Tosca" and Verdi's "Aida." Armiliato has also worked with many other leading opera companies around the world, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Vienna State Opera, and the Paris Opera.
