Genre:BalletOperaVocalPatrice Maginnis was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Patrice showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Patrice's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking private lessons with renowned violinists and attended the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division. At the age of 16, Patrice was accepted into the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she studied with the legendary violinist, Itzhak Perlman. During her time at Curtis, Patrice won several awards and competitions, including the Philadelphia Orchestra's Albert M. Greenfield Student Competition and the Aspen Music Festival's Violin Concerto Competition. She also performed as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. After graduating from Curtis, Patrice continued her studies at the Juilliard School, where she earned a Master of Music degree. She also studied with other renowned violinists, including Pinchas Zukerman and Joshua Bell. Patrice's career as a soloist and chamber musician took off after she won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2010. The grant is awarded to young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise for a career in classical music. With the grant, Patrice was able to perform in major concert halls around the world and record her debut album. In 2012, Patrice made her debut at Carnegie Hall, performing the Brahms Violin Concerto with the New York Youth Symphony. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with The New York Times praising her "rich, warm tone and impeccable technique." Since then, Patrice has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, including Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Simon Rattle, and Riccardo Muti. In addition to her solo career, Patrice is also an avid chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. She is also a founding member of the Maginnis Trio, which has performed in major concert halls around the world. Patrice's recordings have received critical acclaim and have been featured on major classical music radio stations around the world. Her debut album, released in 2011, featured works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. Her second album, released in 2015, featured works by Bartok, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich. In addition to her performing career, Patrice is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music and has given masterclasses around the world. She is passionate about passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians. Patrice has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the S&R Washington Award, and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship.
