Born on August 22, 1965, in Budapest, Hungary, Kertesi grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Kertesi showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. Kertesi's love for music continued to grow, and she eventually decided to pursue a career in singing. She began her vocal studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Ilona Adorjan. Kertesi's talent was quickly recognized, and she was awarded several scholarships to continue her studies. In 1988, Kertesi made her professional debut at the Hungarian State Opera, where she performed the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's "The Magic Flute." Her performance was met with critical acclaim, and she quickly became a rising star in the world of opera. Over the years, Kertesi has performed in some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Vienna State Opera. She has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Sir Georg Solti, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti. One of Kertesi's most notable performances was her portrayal of Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss's "Ariadne auf Naxos" at the Salzburg Festival in 1995. Kertesi has also made a name for herself as a concert singer, performing in some of the world's most renowned concert halls.
