Born in Tokyo, Japan, on December 28, 1963, Eguchi showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He was raised in a musical family, with his mother being a piano teacher and his father a violinist. Eguchi's talent was evident from a young age, and he quickly became recognized as a prodigy. He won his first competition at the age of six and went on to win numerous awards throughout his childhood and teenage years. In 1982, he graduated from the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where he studied under the guidance of pianist Hiroshi Tamura. After completing his studies, Eguchi began his professional career as a pianist, performing in concerts and recitals throughout Japan. He quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and versatile musician, with a particular talent for interpreting the works of contemporary composers. In 1986, he won the first prize at the Japan Music Competition, which helped to launch his international career. Eguchi's international breakthrough came in 1990 when he won the first prize at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland. This was a major achievement for Eguchi, as the Clara Haskil Competition is widely regarded as one of the most challenging and prestigious piano competitions in the world. The win brought Eguchi to the attention of the international music community, and he began to receive invitations to perform in concerts and festivals around the world. Since then, Eguchi has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. Eguchi is also a dedicated educator, and he has taught at many of the world's leading music schools and conservatories. He has been a professor at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo since 1995, and he has also taught at the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He is known for his passionate and inspiring teaching style, and many of his students have gone on to successful careers as musicians. Throughout his career, Eguchi has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the world of classical music.
