Born on December 16, 1962, in Belgrade, Serbia, Todorovitch grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a conductor and her mother was a pianist, so it was no surprise that Todorovitch showed an early interest in music. Todorovitch began her musical training at the age of six, studying piano and singing. She later attended the Belgrade Music Academy, where she studied voice under the tutelage of Professor Radmila Bakočević. After completing her studies, Todorovitch began her professional career as a soloist with the Belgrade Opera. In 1988, Todorovitch moved to France to further her career. She quickly gained recognition for her powerful voice and emotive performances, and was soon invited to perform at some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Paris Opera. One of Todorovitch's most notable performances was her portrayal of Carmen in Georges Bizet's opera of the same name. Her performance was praised for its intensity and emotional depth, and she quickly became known as one of the world's leading interpreters of the role. Todorovitch has also performed in a number of other operas, including Verdi's Aida, Rossini's La Cenerentola, and Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila. Throughout her career, Todorovitch has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 1992, she was awarded the title of "Best Young Singer" by the French Association of Music Critics. She has also been awarded the title of "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" by the French government, and has been named a "UNESCO Artist for Peace" in recognition of her work promoting cultural diversity and understanding.
