Born on May 30, 1931, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Ozim showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. Ozim's early education in music was under the guidance of his father, who was his first teacher. He later studied at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, where he received his diploma in 1951. After completing his studies, Ozim continued to hone his skills by attending masterclasses with renowned violinists such as David Oistrakh, Henryk Szeryng, and Yehudi Menuhin. In 1953, Ozim won first prize at the International Violin Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, which marked the beginning of his successful career as a soloist. He went on to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic.
