Jonathan Crow is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist and conductor. Born in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, on October 22, 1974, Crow grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that he would follow in their footsteps. Crow began playing the violin at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from an early age. He studied with renowned violinists such as Dorothy DeLay, Itzhak Perlman, and Pinchas Zukerman, and went on to attend the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. After completing his studies, Crow began his professional career as a violinist, performing with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra from 2002 to 2006. In addition to his work as a violinist, Crow is also an accomplished conductor. He has conducted orchestras such as the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, among others. One of the highlights of Crow's career was his performance at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he played the solo violin part in the Olympic Hymn during the opening ceremony. The performance was watched by millions of people around the world and cemented Crow's reputation as one of the world's top violinists. Crow has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 1996, he won the Grand Prize at the Canadian Music Competition, and in 2002, he was awarded the Virginia Parker Prize by the Canada Council for the Arts. He has also been a recipient of the Sylva Gelber Foundation Award, the Canada Council for the Arts' Career Development Grant, and the Ontario Arts Council's Chalmers Professional Development Grant. In addition to his work as a performer and conductor, Crow is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music and the Glenn Gould School, and he currently serves as the Associate Professor of Violin at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal. Despite his many accomplishments, Crow remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and conduct around the world, and he is committed to sharing his love of music with future generations of musicians.
