Genre:ChamberChoralRita Costanzi is a renowned classical harpist, born in Vancouver, Canada. She began her musical journey at the age of six, when she started playing the piano. However, it was not until she was 12 years old that she discovered her love for the harp. She was mesmerized by the instrument's unique sound and the way it could evoke emotions in the listener. Costanzi's passion for the harp led her to study at the Vancouver Academy of Music, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree. She then went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she earned her Master of Music degree. During her time at Juilliard, she studied under the tutelage of the legendary harpist Marcel Grandjany. After completing her studies, Costanzi began her professional career as a harpist. She quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent and was invited to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of Costanzi's career was her performance at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, Canada. She was chosen to perform the national anthem of Canada during the opening ceremonies, which was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world. This performance brought her international recognition and cemented her status as one of the world's leading harpists. Costanzi has also been recognized for her solo performances. In 1990, she released her debut album, "Harp Music of the Italian Renaissance," which received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Juno Award, Canada's most prestigious music award. She has since released several more albums, including "Harp Music of the French Baroque" and "Harp Music of the Americas." In addition to her solo work, Costanzi has collaborated with many other musicians and composers. She has worked with renowned composers such as John Williams and Philip Glass, and has performed with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. Costanzi has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 1992, she was awarded the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest honors, for her contributions to the arts. She has also been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Vancouver Mayor's Arts Award. Despite her many accomplishments, Costanzi remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, sharing her love of the harp with audiences and students around the world. Her passion for music and her commitment to excellence have made her one of the most respected and admired harpists of her generation.More....
