Birth:February 18, 1974 in New Canaan, CTAndrew Armstrong is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in 1975 in New York City, Armstrong began playing the piano at the age of three and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with some of the most distinguished teachers in the field, including Menahem Pressler, Leon Fleisher, and Claude Frank, and went on to earn degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School. Throughout his career, Armstrong has been recognized for his exceptional musicianship and technical prowess. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the National Chopin Competition, the New York Piano Competition, and the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. He has also been a featured soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Armstrong's most notable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1999, where he played a program of works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Chopin to critical acclaim. Since then, he has performed at many of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Kennedy Center, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his solo performances, Armstrong is also an avid chamber musician. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading instrumentalists and ensembles, including the Tokyo String Quartet, the Ying Quartet, and the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players. He is a founding member of the Caramoor Virtuosi, a chamber ensemble that performs regularly at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in New York. Armstrong is also a dedicated educator and has taught masterclasses and workshops at many of the world's leading music schools and festivals. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Music and the Bravo! Vail Music Festival. Throughout his career, Armstrong has recorded extensively, with over a dozen albums to his name. His recordings have received critical acclaim and have been featured on many of the world's leading classical music radio stations. His most recent album, "American Virtuoso," features works by American composers such as George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, and Leonard Bernstein. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Armstrong is also a dedicated philanthropist. He has worked with many charitable organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and has raised thousands of dollars for various causes through benefit concerts and other events.
