He was a renowned flutist and conductor who made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Capezzali began his musical journey at a young age, showing a keen interest in the flute. He started taking lessons at the Marseille Conservatory, where he quickly excelled and won several awards. He continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of Jean-Pierre Rampal, one of the most celebrated flutists of the 20th century. After completing his studies, Capezzali began his professional career as a flutist, performing with various orchestras and ensembles across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and his ability to interpret a wide range of musical styles. In 1976, Capezzali was appointed as the principal flutist of the Orchestre National de France, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. He held this position for over a decade, during which time he performed in some of the most renowned concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. In addition to his work as a flutist, Capezzali was also an accomplished conductor. He conducted several orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the Orchestre de Paris. He was known for his ability to bring out the best in his musicians and for his innovative interpretations of classical works. Capezzali's career was marked by several notable performances and awards. In 1982, he performed the world premiere of the flute concerto by French composer Henri Dutilleux, which was written specifically for him. The performance was widely acclaimed, and Capezzali went on to record the concerto with the Orchestre National de France. In 1985, Capezzali was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of the complete works for flute by French composer Philippe Gaubert. This was one of several awards he received throughout his career, including the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, two of the highest honors in France.
