Artist Info
Birth:1986 in Liverpool, Lancashire, EnglandKathryn Rudge is a British mezzo-soprano who has established herself as one of the most exciting and versatile classical music artists of her generation. Born on 10th October 1985 in Liverpool, England, Kathryn grew up in a musical family and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her father was a church organist and her mother was a music teacher, which meant that Kathryn was surrounded by music from the very beginning. Kathryn began singing at a young age and quickly showed a natural talent for music. She attended the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where she studied under the tutelage of Mary Plazas and Jeffrey Lawton. During her time at the college, Kathryn won several awards, including the prestigious Frederic Cox Award for Singing and the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss. After graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music, Kathryn began to establish herself as a professional singer. She made her debut at the Royal Opera House in London in 2010, singing the role of the Second Lady in Mozart's "The Magic Flute". This was a major milestone in Kathryn's career, as it marked her first appearance on one of the world's most prestigious stages. Since then, Kathryn has gone on to perform at some of the most renowned opera houses and concert halls in the world. She has sung at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the English National Opera, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Royal Festival Hall, among others. She has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of Kathryn's career came in 2012, when she was chosen to sing the role of Cherubino in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. This was a major breakthrough for Kathryn, as it marked her first leading role in a major opera production. Her performance was widely praised by critics, who praised her "rich, warm mezzo-soprano voice" and her "captivating stage presence". In addition to her work in opera, Kathryn is also a highly sought-after concert performer. She has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Musikverein in Vienna. She has also performed at major music festivals, including the BBC Proms and the Edinburgh International Festival. Kathryn's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by composers from the Baroque era to the present day. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the music of Benjamin Britten, and has performed in several productions of his operas, including "The Turn of the Screw" and "Albert Herring". She has also recorded several albums of Britten's music, including "Folksongs" and "A Ceremony of Carols". In addition to her work as a performer, Kathryn is also a passionate advocate for music education. She has worked with several organizations to promote music education in schools and communities, and has given masterclasses and workshops to young singers. She is also a patron of the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir, and has worked with the choir on several occasions. Kathryn has received several awards and honors for her work as a singer. In 2012, she was named a Rising Star by the Royal Philharmonic Society, and in 2014 she was awarded the Susan Chilcott Scholarship by the Royal Philharmonic Society.More....
