Born in Moscow in 1984, Giltburg began playing the piano at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied at the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow, one of the most prestigious music schools in Russia, where he received intensive training in piano performance, music theory, and composition. In 2002, Giltburg moved to Israel with his family and continued his musical studies at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. Giltburg's breakthrough came in 2013, when he won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. His performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in the final round was hailed as a triumph of virtuosity and musicality, and he was awarded the first prize by a unanimous decision of the jury.
