Artist Info
Period:RomanticModernGenre:ConcertoOrchestralPierre Nerini was a French classical music artist who was born on December 22, 1898, in Marseille, France. He was the son of a violinist and began playing the violin at a young age. His father, who was his first teacher, recognized his son's talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Nerini's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became known for his exceptional technique and musicality. He studied at the Paris Conservatory under the tutelage of Lucien Capet, a renowned violinist and pedagogue. Nerini's studies at the conservatory were interrupted by World War I, during which he served in the French army. After the war, Nerini resumed his studies at the conservatory and graduated with first prize in violin in 1921. He then embarked on a successful career as a soloist, performing throughout Europe and the United States. He was known for his virtuosic performances and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. Nerini's career was marked by many highlights, including his performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Serge Koussevitzky. He also performed with the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic, among others. He was particularly known for his performances of the violin concertos of Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. In addition to his solo career, Nerini was also a member of the Capet Quartet, which was founded by his teacher Lucien Capet. The quartet was known for its innovative interpretations of classical music and its commitment to new music. Nerini played with the quartet for many years, and they performed together throughout Europe and the United States. Nerini's career was also marked by many awards and honors. He was awarded the Legion of Honor, one of France's highest honors, in recognition of his contributions to music. He was also awarded the Grand Prix du Disque, a prestigious award for classical recordings, for his recording of the Beethoven violin concerto. Despite his success, Nerini remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice and perform well into his later years, and he was known for his generosity in sharing his knowledge and experience with younger musicians. Nerini passed away on December 17, 1966, at the age of 68. He left behind a legacy as one of the greatest violinists of his time, and his recordings continue to be admired and studied by musicians and music lovers around the world.More....
