Born on May 23, 1986, in Toulouse, France, Sempey grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a choir conductor, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Sempey was exposed to classical music and began singing in choirs. Sempey began his formal music education at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse, where he studied under the guidance of Jean-Pierre Blivet. He later continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied with Christian Immler. In 2012, Sempey won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, Belgium. This competition is one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world and is known for launching the careers of many successful musicians. Sempey's win at the competition helped to establish him as a rising star in the world of classical music. Since then, Sempey has performed in some of the world's most renowned opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Opéra National de Paris, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
