His father, Christoph Prégardien, is a renowned tenor, and his mother, Annette Markert, is a mezzo-soprano. Julian's parents were his first music teachers, and he began singing at a young age. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt and later at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. During his studies, Julian received guidance from renowned vocal coaches such as Margreet Honig, Helmut Deutsch, and Michael Schade.
