The RCA Italiana Opera Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that has been entertaining audiences for over 70 years. The orchestra was founded in 1949 by the Italian record label RCA Italiana, which was a subsidiary of the American company RCA Victor. The orchestra was created to record operas for RCA Italiana, but it quickly became a popular live performance ensemble as well. The RCA Italiana Opera Orchestra has had many talented musicians over the years, but some of its most notable members include conductor Gianandrea Gavazzeni, who served as the orchestra's music director from 1951 to 1959, and soprano Renata Tebaldi, who performed with the orchestra on many occasions. In 1959, the orchestra was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for its recording of Verdi's "La Traviata."
