Matthias Höfs is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as one of the world's leading trumpet players. Born on August 16, 1969, in Essen, Germany, Höfs grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a trumpet player, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Höfs showed a keen interest in music and began playing the trumpet at the age of six. Höfs' talent for the trumpet was evident from the start, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of eight and won his first competition at the age of ten. Höfs continued to hone his skills throughout his childhood and adolescence, studying with some of the most renowned trumpet players in Germany. In 1988, Höfs was accepted into the prestigious Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where he studied under the tutelage of Professor Helmut Wobisch. During his time at the conservatory, Höfs won several awards and competitions, including the German Music Competition and the International Trumpet Competition in Toulon, France. After graduating from the conservatory in 1993, Höfs began his professional career as a trumpet player. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and versatile trumpet players in the world, performing with some of the most renowned orchestras and conductors. One of Höfs' most notable performances was his solo performance with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1995. The performance was a huge success, and Höfs received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing. He went on to perform with the orchestra several more times over the years, cementing his reputation as one of the world's leading trumpet players. In addition to his work as a soloist, Höfs has also been a member of several prominent orchestras throughout his career. He was a member of the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne from 1993 to 1998 and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1998 to 2003. He has also performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Höfs' talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1996, he was awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik Award for his debut album, "Trumpet Concertos." He has also been awarded the German Record Critics' Award, the International Classical Music Award, and the Edison Classical Music Award, among others. In addition to his work as a performer, Höfs is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught at several music conservatories throughout Germany, including the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. He has also given masterclasses and workshops around the world, sharing his knowledge and expertise with aspiring trumpet players. Throughout his career, Höfs has remained committed to pushing the boundaries of classical music and exploring new and innovative ways to showcase the trumpet.
