Born in 1960 in the United Kingdom, Titterington showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. However, it was not until he was introduced to the organ at the age of 13 that he discovered his true passion. Titterington's talent for the organ was quickly recognized, and he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was awarded the prestigious Recital Diploma. Titterington also studied with some of the most renowned organists of his time, including Marie-Claire Alain, Jean Guillou, and Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini. Titterington's career as a professional musician began in 1983 when he was appointed as the organist and master of the choristers at Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented organists of his generation, and his performances were highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. In 1986, Titterington was appointed as the organist and master of the choristers at St. John's College in Cambridge, where he remained for 13 years. During his time at St. John's, Titterington established himself as one of the leading organists in the world, and his performances were broadcast on radio and television throughout Europe and the United States. Titterington's career as a conductor began in 1999 when he was appointed as the artistic director of the International Organ Festival in St. Albans. He also performed the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach at St. John's College in 1999, which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and received widespread praise. Titterington's recordings have also received critical acclaim, and he has released numerous albums throughout his career.
