Genre:ChoralOperaLothar Odinius is a renowned German tenor who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on August 4, 1965, in Dresden, Germany, Odinius grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a conductor, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Odinius showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. Odinius's musical talent was evident from an early age, and he began singing in the Dresden Kreuzchor, a renowned boys' choir, at the age of ten. He continued to sing with the choir until he was 18, and during this time, he received extensive training in music theory, vocal technique, and performance. After completing his studies at the Kreuzchor, Odinius went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. He received his diploma in voice in 1990 and went on to study with renowned vocal coaches such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. Odinius's career as a professional singer began in 1991 when he joined the ensemble of the Staatsoper Dresden. He quickly established himself as a talented tenor, and his performances in productions such as Mozart's "The Magic Flute" and Verdi's "La Traviata" received critical acclaim. In 1994, Odinius made his debut at the Salzburg Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. He performed in a production of Mozart's "Idomeneo," and his performance was widely praised by critics. Over the years, Odinius has performed in many of the world's leading opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Paris Opera. He has also collaborated with some of the world's leading conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. One of Odinius's most notable performances was in a production of Bach's "St. Matthew Passion" at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2005. His performance of the aria "Erbarme dich" was particularly praised, and it has since become one of his signature pieces. Odinius has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 1996, he was awarded the prestigious Mozart Prize by the Mozart Foundation in Salzburg. He has also been awarded the Echo Klassik Award, one of the most prestigious classical music awards in Germany, on multiple occasions. In addition to his work as an opera singer, Odinius is also a sought-after concert performer. He has performed in many of the world's leading concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Musikverein in Vienna. He has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Schubert's "Winterreise" with pianist Christoph Berner. Despite his success, Odinius remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to work tirelessly to perfect his vocal technique and to bring his unique interpretation to each performance. His passion for music and his commitment to excellence have made him one of the most respected and admired tenors of his generation.More....
