Māris Sirmais is a Latvian conductor, choir director, and music educator who has made significant contributions to the classical music scene in Latvia and beyond. Born on August 22, 1969, in Riga, Latvia, Sirmais showed an early interest in music and began his formal training at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School in Riga. He later studied at the Latvian Academy of Music, where he earned a degree in choral conducting. Sirmais began his career as a conductor in 1992 when he was appointed the artistic director of the Latvian Radio Choir.
