Grün's dedication and hard work paid off, and he graduated with honors from the conservatory. After completing his studies, Grün began performing in various concerts and recitals across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented pianist with a unique style and technique. His performances were characterized by his ability to convey deep emotions through his music, and he quickly became a favorite among classical music enthusiasts. Grün's breakthrough performance came in 1990 when he won the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland.
