The Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, also known as NOSPR, is one of the most renowned classical music ensembles in Poland. Founded in 1935, the orchestra has a rich history of performances and awards, and has become a symbol of Polish culture and music. The orchestra was founded by Grzegorz Fitelberg, a renowned Polish conductor and composer, who served as its first artistic director. The ensemble was initially called the Silesian Philharmonic, and was based in Katowice, a city in southern Poland. In 2013, the orchestra won the prestigious Gramophone Orchestra of the Year award, becoming the first Polish ensemble to receive the honor. The orchestra's repertoire includes works by both Polish and international composers, ranging from classical to contemporary music. It has recorded over 200 albums, many of which have received critical acclaim and awards.
