Lidiya Kovalenko is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born on May 15, 1985, in Kiev, Ukraine, Kovalenko showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue music as a career. Kovalenko's musical education began at the Kiev Special Music School for Gifted Children, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Valery Kozlov. She continued her studies at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Piano Performance. During her time at the academy, Kovalenko participated in numerous competitions and won several awards. In 2005, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Emil Gilels, held in Odessa, Ukraine. She also won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz, held in Kiev, Ukraine, in 2006. Kovalenko's talent and hard work earned her a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where she earned her Artist Diploma in Piano Performance. While in London, Kovalenko had the opportunity to study under the guidance of renowned pianists such as Dmitri Alexeev and Norma Fisher. Kovalenko's career as a professional pianist began in 2008 when she made her debut at the Kiev Philharmonic Hall, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Since then, she has performed in numerous concerts and recitals around the world, including in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. One of Kovalenko's most notable performances was at the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. She was one of only 84 pianists selected from around the world to participate in the competition, and she made it to the semi-finals. Her performance was praised by the judges and the audience, and she received a standing ovation. Kovalenko has also performed with several renowned orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Kiev Symphony Orchestra, the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has collaborated with many distinguished conductors, including Mykola Diadiura, Volodymyr Sirenko, and Yuriy Yanko. In addition to her performances, Kovalenko is also a dedicated teacher.
