Colin Balzer is a Canadian tenor who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in British Columbia, Canada, in 1978, Balzer grew up in a musical family. His father was a church organist, and his mother was a choir director. From a young age, Balzer was exposed to classical music and began singing in his church choir. Balzer's love for music continued to grow, and he went on to study at the University of British Columbia, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. He then went on to study at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Master of Music degree in opera performance. Balzer's career as a professional musician began in 2004 when he made his debut with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Balzer's most notable performances was in 2010 when he performed the role of Evangelist in Bach's St. Matthew Passion with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The performance was highly acclaimed, and Balzer was praised for his powerful and emotional performance. In addition to his work with orchestras, Balzer has also performed in numerous operas. He has performed with the Canadian Opera Company, the Boston Lyric Opera, and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, among others. One of his most notable opera performances was in 2014 when he performed the role of Tamino in Mozart's The Magic Flute with the Canadian Opera Company.
