He studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, where he was taught by renowned oboist Han de Vries. After completing his studies, de Bruine quickly established himself as a sought-after performer, playing with some of the most prestigious orchestras in Europe. He has performed with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the Academy of Ancient Music, among others. One of de Bruine's most notable performances was his rendition of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. The performance was praised for its technical precision and musicality, and de Bruine was lauded for his virtuosic playing. In addition to his work as a performer, de Bruine is also a respected teacher and mentor. He has taught at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Conservatory of Amsterdam, and has given masterclasses around the world.
