Jean Teitgen is a renowned French bass-baritone who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on December 22, 1968, in Metz, France, Teitgen grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a choir conductor, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Teitgen was exposed to music and developed a passion for singing. Teitgen began his musical training at the Conservatoire National de Région de Metz, where he studied piano and singing. He later continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he received a diploma in singing. During his time at the conservatory, Teitgen was mentored by renowned baritone Gabriel Bacquier, who helped him develop his vocal technique and stage presence. After completing his studies, Teitgen began his professional career as a soloist with the Opéra National de Paris. He made his debut in 1996 in the role of the High Priest in Mozart's Idomeneo. This performance was well-received, and Teitgen quickly established himself as a rising star in the world of opera. Over the years, Teitgen has performed in some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and directors in the industry, including Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, and Robert Carsen. One of Teitgen's most notable performances was his portrayal of the title role in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Opéra National de Paris in 2006. He also received critical acclaim for his performance as Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen at the Royal Opera House in London in 2010.
