Philippe Bernold is a renowned French flutist, conductor, and professor of music. He was born on December 23, 1959, in Marseille, France. Bernold grew up in a family of musicians, and his father was a flutist. He started playing the flute at the age of six and quickly showed exceptional talent. He studied at the Conservatoire National SupƩrieur de Musique de Paris, where he won first prize in flute and chamber music. Bernold's career as a professional musician began in 1984 when he was appointed principal flute of the Orchestre de l'OpƩra National de Lyon. He held this position for ten years before moving to the Orchestre de Paris, where he served as principal flute for another ten years. During this time, he also performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. In addition to his work as a performer, Bernold is also an accomplished conductor. He has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He has also served as the principal conductor of the Orchestre d'Auvergne since 2009. Bernold is also a highly respected teacher of music. He has taught at the Conservatoire National SupƩrieur de Musique de Paris since 1994 and has also taught at the Geneva Conservatory and the Tokyo University of the Arts. Many of his students have gone on to successful careers as professional musicians. Throughout his career, Bernold has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1990, he won the prestigious International Jean-Pierre Rampal Flute Competition. He was also awarded the Victoire de la Musique Classique in 2004 for his recording of Mozart's flute concertos. In 2010, he was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of his contributions to the arts. One of the highlights of Bernold's career was his performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was invited to perform as a soloist with the China Philharmonic Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. His performance was widely praised, and he received a standing ovation from the audience. Bernold is also a prolific recording artist. He has recorded over 30 albums, including many of the major works for flute. His recordings have received critical acclaim and have won numerous awards, including the Diapason d'Or and the Choc de Classica.
