Ludovic Tézier is a French baritone who has established himself as one of the leading opera singers of his generation. Born on October 19, 1968, in Lyon, France, Tézier grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical singer. Tézier began his musical training at a young age, studying piano and singing in choirs. He later attended the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, where he studied voice with Jean-Claude Orliac. Tézier made his professional debut in 1992, singing the role of Silvio in Pagliacci at the Opéra de Lyon. He quickly gained recognition for his rich, warm voice and his dramatic intensity.
