John Sharp is a renowned cellist and classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born on August 6, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sharp grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Sharp started playing the cello at the age of six and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Sharp's musical education began at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, where he studied with Elsa Hilger and David Soyer. He later attended the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Leonard Rose and Orlando Cole. Sharp's talent and dedication to music were evident from his early years, and he quickly became one of the most promising young cellists of his generation. After completing his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music, Sharp joined the Philadelphia Orchestra as its principal cellist in 1980.
