Süher Pekinel is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born on October 26, 1951, in Istanbul, Turkey, Pekinel began playing the piano at the age of three and showed remarkable talent from an early age. Pekinel's parents recognized her musical abilities and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began studying with Mithat Fenmen, a prominent Turkish pianist and composer, and later went on to study at the Paris Conservatory with Pierre Sancan and Yvonne Loriod. In 1974, Pekinel and her twin sister, Güher, formed a piano duo and began performing together. The duo quickly gained recognition for their exceptional talent and musicality, and they went on to win numerous awards and competitions, including the first prize at the Munich ARD International Music Competition in 1977. Throughout their career, the Pekinel sisters have performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. They have also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta, and Lorin Maazel. In addition to their performances as a duo, Süher Pekinel has also established herself as a solo artist, performing with many of the world's leading orchestras and in major concert halls around the world. She has recorded extensively, with a repertoire that includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, among others. Pekinel's performances are characterized by her technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and deep understanding of the music she plays.
