Artist Info
Role:PerformerAlice Foccroulle is a Belgian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a soprano and harpsichordist. Born in Brussels in 1987, Foccroulle grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, Bernard Foccroulle, is a renowned organist and composer, and her mother, Anne Froidebise, is a harpsichordist and musicologist. Foccroulle began her musical education at a young age, studying piano and singing in a children's choir. She later went on to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she focused on both voice and harpsichord. During her studies, Foccroulle was awarded several prizes and scholarships, including the Prix de la Fondation Belge de la Vocation and the Prix de la Fondation de la Banque Populaire. After completing her studies, Foccroulle began performing professionally as both a soprano and harpsichordist. She quickly gained recognition for her virtuosic performances and her ability to bring new life to Baroque and Renaissance music. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Prix Jeune Soliste de l'année by the Belgian National Radio and Television. One of Foccroulle's most notable performances was her portrayal of the title role in Handel's opera Rodelinda at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels in 2014. Her performance was praised for its emotional depth and technical brilliance, and it cemented her reputation as one of the most talented sopranos of her generation. Foccroulle has also made a name for herself as a harpsichordist, performing with some of the world's leading Baroque ensembles, including Les Arts Florissants and the Academy of Ancient Music. Her recordings of works by Bach, Couperin, and Rameau have been widely praised for their clarity and sensitivity. In addition to her performing career, Foccroulle is also a respected musicologist and has published several articles on Baroque music. She is particularly interested in the role of women in music during the Baroque era and has written extensively on female composers and performers of the time. Despite her many accomplishments, Foccroulle remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform regularly and is always seeking new ways to explore and interpret the music of the past. With her talent, passion, and dedication, Alice Foccroulle is sure to remain a major force in the world of classical music for many years to come.More....
