Her parents were both musicians, and they recognized her talent for music at a young age. She began playing the piano when she was just four years old, and by the time she was a teenager, she was already performing in public. Arndt-Ober's musical education began at the Berlin Conservatory, where she studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and composer, Walter Gieseking. She later continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, where she received her diploma in piano performance. Arndt-Ober's career as a concert pianist began in the 1930s, and she quickly gained a reputation as a talented and dynamic performer. She made her debut in Berlin in 1936, and her performance was met with critical acclaim. She went on to perform in major cities throughout Europe, including Paris, London, and Vienna. One of the highlights of Arndt-Ober's career was her performance at the Salzburg Festival in 1949.
