Brass Partout is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique sound and exceptional performances for over three decades. The ensemble was founded in 1989 by a group of brass musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to explore the possibilities of brass instruments in a variety of musical genres. The founding members of Brass Partout were trumpeters Markus Würsch and Markus Stockhausen, horn player Arkady Shilkloper, trombonist David Bruchez-Lalli, and tuba player Michel Godard. Each member brought their own unique style and expertise to the ensemble, creating a dynamic and versatile group that quickly gained recognition in the classical music world. One of the defining characteristics of Brass Partout is their commitment to exploring the full range of brass instruments and their capabilities. The ensemble has performed a wide variety of music, ranging from classical and contemporary compositions to jazz, world music, and even experimental improvisation. This versatility has allowed them to collaborate with a diverse range of musicians and composers, including jazz pianist Joachim Kühn, composer and conductor Heinz Holliger, and percussionist Pierre Favre. Over the years, Brass Partout has become known for their innovative and boundary-pushing performances. One of their most notable achievements was their 1992 performance of Luciano Berio's "Sequenza V" for solo trombone and ensemble, which was hailed as a groundbreaking interpretation of the piece. The ensemble has also premiered numerous works by contemporary composers, including "Brass Quintet" by Swiss composer Daniel Schnyder and "Concerto for Brass Quintet and Orchestra" by American composer Eric Ewazen. In addition to their performances, Brass Partout has also received numerous awards and accolades for their contributions to the classical music world. In 1993, they were awarded the prestigious Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes, which recognizes outstanding young musicians in Switzerland. They have also been featured in numerous recordings, including their critically acclaimed album "Brass Partout Plays Bach," which was released in 2000. Despite changes in the ensemble's lineup over the years, Brass Partout has remained a vital and innovative force in the classical music world. Their commitment to exploring the full range of brass instruments and their capabilities has inspired countless musicians and audiences alike, and their legacy continues to influence the future of chamber music.
