Artist Info
Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana is a classical music ensemble based in the Marche region of Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1994 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to bring high-quality performances to the region. The founding members of the orchestra included conductor Daniele Callegari, who served as the orchestra's first music director, and violinist Fabio Bagnoli, who served as concertmaster. Over the years, the orchestra has grown to include more than 50 musicians, many of whom are from the Marche region. From the beginning, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana has been committed to performing a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. The orchestra has collaborated with many renowned soloists and conductors, including pianist Martha Argerich, cellist Mischa Maisky, and conductor Riccardo Muti. One of the highlights of the orchestra's early years was its performance at the 1998 Ravenna Festival, where it played Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under the baton of Muti. The performance was a critical and commercial success, and helped to establish the orchestra's reputation as one of the finest in Italy. In 2000, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana was invited to perform at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in Austria. The orchestra played a program of works by Mozart, including his Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter." The performance was well-received by both audiences and critics, and helped to raise the orchestra's profile on the international stage. In 2003, the orchestra appointed a new music director, Michele Mariotti. Mariotti, who was just 24 years old at the time, quickly established himself as a rising star in the classical music world. Under his leadership, the orchestra continued to perform a wide range of repertoire, from the classics to contemporary works. One of the highlights of Mariotti's tenure was the orchestra's performance of Verdi's Requiem in 2007. The performance, which featured soloists including soprano Maria Agresta and bass Riccardo Zanellato, was hailed as a triumph by critics and audiences alike. In 2012, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana celebrated its 18th anniversary with a special concert at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The concert featured works by Verdi, Rossini, and Puccini, and was conducted by Mariotti. In recent years, the orchestra has continued to perform at major venues and festivals throughout Italy and Europe. In 2018, the orchestra performed at the prestigious Lucerne Festival in Switzerland, where it played a program of works by Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Throughout its history, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana has received numerous awards and accolades for its performances and recordings. In 2005, the orchestra won the prestigious Abbiati Prize, which is awarded annually by Italian music critics to the best performing ensemble in the country. In addition to its performances, the orchestra is also committed to music education and outreach. The orchestra's education program includes workshops, masterclasses, and concerts for young people, and it has also collaborated with local schools and community organizations to bring classical music to a wider audience. Today, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana continues to be one of the leading classical music ensembles in Italy.More....
