Jane Coe was born on May 12, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Coe showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. She later picked up the cello at the age of eight and quickly fell in love with the instrument. Coe's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking private lessons with renowned cellists and pianists in London and quickly gained a reputation as a prodigy. At the age of 12, Coe was accepted into the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School, where she studied under the tutelage of some of the world's most renowned musicians. During her time at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Coe's talent continued to flourish. She won numerous awards and competitions, including the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Instrumentalist Award and the BBC Young Musician of the Year Award. After completing her studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Coe went on to attend the Royal Academy of Music in London. There, she continued to hone her skills and develop her unique style of playing.
