I Solisti Aquilani is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1958 in L'Aquila, Italy. The ensemble has gained international recognition for its exceptional performances of classical music, particularly works by Italian composers. The founding members of I Solisti Aquilani were a group of young musicians who were passionate about classical music and eager to share their love of the genre with others. The ensemble was initially formed as a chamber orchestra, with a focus on performing works by Italian composers such as Vivaldi, Corelli, and Pergolesi. Over the years, I Solisti Aquilani has grown in size and scope, and now includes a full orchestra as well as a chamber ensemble. The ensemble's repertoire has also expanded to include works by composers from around the world, including Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. One of the key members of I Solisti Aquilani is its conductor, Gabriele Bonolis. Bonolis has been with the ensemble since 1992 and has played a crucial role in shaping its sound and style. Under his leadership, I Solisti Aquilani has become known for its dynamic and expressive performances, as well as its commitment to preserving and promoting the works of Italian composers. Over the years, I Solisti Aquilani has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. The ensemble has been invited to perform at the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Berlin Philharmonic, among others. In addition, I Solisti Aquilani has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned soloists, including pianist Martha Argerich and violinist Salvatore Accardo. One of the highlights of I Solisti Aquilani's career was its performance at the Vatican in 2000. The ensemble was invited to perform for Pope John Paul II as part of the Jubilee Year celebrations. The concert was a great success, and the ensemble received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to its many performances, I Solisti Aquilani has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. The ensemble has been awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is considered one of the highest honors in the Italian classical music world. In addition, I Solisti Aquilani has been recognized for its contributions to the cultural life of L'Aquila, and has been awarded the city's highest honor, the Gold Medal of Merit. Despite facing many challenges over the years, including a devastating earthquake in 2009 that destroyed much of L'Aquila and forced the ensemble to relocate temporarily, I Solisti Aquilani has remained committed to its mission of promoting classical music and preserving the works of Italian composers. The ensemble continues to perform regularly, both in Italy and around the world, and remains a beloved and respected institution in the classical music world.
