Soovin Kim is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist and chamber musician. Born in 1974 in South Korea, Kim began playing the violin at the age of four. His family moved to the United States when he was eight years old, and he continued his musical studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. Kim's talent as a violinist was evident from a young age, and he quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skill and musicality. He won numerous competitions and awards, including the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1996, which launched his career as a soloist. Over the years, Kim has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, such as Christoph Eschenbach, Leonard Slatkin, and David Zinman. In addition to his work as a soloist, Kim is also a highly sought-after chamber musician. He has performed with some of the most distinguished ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri Quartet, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. One of the highlights of Kim's career was his performance of the complete Beethoven violin sonatas with pianist Jeremy Denk. Kim has also been recognized for his recordings, which have received numerous awards and accolades. He has taught at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is currently a faculty member at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
