Born in Shenzhen, China in 1998, Wei showed an early aptitude for music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents recognized her talent and enrolled her in the Shenzhen Arts School, where she received rigorous training in both piano and music theory. Wei's talent quickly became apparent, and she began winning competitions at a young age. In 2007, at the age of nine, she won first prize in the Junior Division of the Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition. The following year, she won first prize in the Young Artist Division of the same competition. These early successes set the stage for Wei's future as a world-class pianist. In 2010, Wei and her family moved to the United States, where she continued her musical education at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. There, she studied with renowned pianist Gary Graffman, who recognized her talent and helped her develop her skills as a performer and musician. Wei's career as a concert pianist took off in 2015, when she won first prize in the National Chopin Piano Competition in Miami. This prestigious competition is held every five years and is considered one of the most important piano competitions in the world. Wei's performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor impressed the judges and earned her the top prize. Since then, Wei has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
